Data protection and Information Storage in Lao PDR What does it mean for businesses and end-users ‘privacy?
September 19 @ 08:30 - 10:00
Do you own a smartphone?
Do you or your company have a social media account?
Does your organisation use any software to record employees’ personal files?
In the online environment, where vast amounts of data are shared and spread around the globe instantly, it becomes a real challenge for individuals and organisations to maintain control of their information. The incredibly fast growing digital economy is a double-edged sword as businesses are expected to comply with data protection regulations in a borderless online world.
An ASEAN Framework on Personal Data Protection was adopted in November 2016, establishing a set of principles to guide the implementation of measures at both national and regional levels to promote and strengthen personal data protection in the region.
As for Lao PDR, the Lao Computer Emergency Response Team (LaoCERT) was established in 2012 by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications with the Law on Prevention and Combating Cyber Crime and the Law on Protection of Electronic Data being enacted in 2015 and 2017 respectively.
Attend & Learn :

- flag issues for the implementation of a data protection framework
- share practical lessons from actual cases.
